Controlled water-based treadmill exercise
The Aqua Line is the Horse Gym equine water treadmill range supplied by Equine Health Centre. It is designed for equestrian facilities that want to combine controlled treadmill movement with adjustable water depth.
An equine water treadmill, also known as a horse water treadmill or aqua trainer, allows the horse to move on a treadmill belt while working through water. The operator can adjust the session according to the model specification, the horse, the intended routine and the professional judgement of the team using the system.
The Aqua Line is relevant to yards and facilities where controlled water-based exercise forms part of structured training, management or conditioning routines. It should be considered separately from the Hydro Line horse spa, which is a stationary cold saltwater lower-limb immersion system rather than a moving treadmill.
What is an equine water treadmill?
An equine water treadmill is a specialist treadmill system that introduces water into the exercise environment. Unlike a dry treadmill, the horse works through water while walking on the treadmill belt.
The Aqua Line allows facilities to use water depth as part of the session plan. Depending on the model selected, water height can reach up to approximately 1 m or 1.2 m, with speed options up to approximately 10 km/h or 16 km/h.
This makes the Aqua Line suitable for equestrian facilities that need controlled, repeatable water-based exercise with clear operator oversight.
How water changes the exercise environment
Water changes the way the horse works during treadmill exercise.
Buoyancy reduces load during movement, while water resistance increases the effort required in a controlled way. Adjustable water height allows the operator to vary the exercise environment according to the intended session, the horse and the facility’s routine.
Water-based treadmill exercise can be integrated into professional training and management programmes where consistency, control and careful observation are important. The Aqua Line provides a repeatable environment in which speed, duration and water height can be managed by the operator.
Aqua Line as controlled water-based exercise equipment and should not be read as a claim that the product treats injury, accelerates recovery, reduces inflammation or produces specific veterinary outcomes.
Aqua Line models
The Aqua Line range includes four water treadmill models.
The correct model will depend on the required water height, speed capability, expected use, horse population and the facility’s operating requirements.
Technical details, dimensions, power requirements and installation requirements should be confirmed with EHC before purchase or site preparation.
Aqua Basic
The Aqua Basic is the standard Aqua Line model, with a maximum speed of approximately 10 km/h and water height up to approximately 1 m.
The aqua Basic is suitable for facilities that require controlled water-based treadmill exercise but do not need the higher speed capability of a Sport model or the increased water height of the Premium versions.
Aqua Basic Sport
The Aqua Basic Sport has the same approximate maximum water height as the Aqua Basic, at up to 1 m, but offers a higher maximum speed of approximately 16 km/h.
The Aqua Basic Sport is suitable for facilities that require the Basic water height specification but want greater speed capability within their water treadmill system.
Aqua Premium
The Aqua Premium offers a maximum speed of approximately 10 km/h and a greater maximum water height of approximately 1.2 m.
The Aqua Premium is suitable for facilities where adjustable water height is a key part of the intended use, but where the higher speed of the Premium Sport is not required.
Aqua Premium Sport
The Aqua Premium Sport combines the higher approximate maximum speed of 16 km/h with the greater maximum water height of approximately 1.2 m.
It is the highest-specification option within the Aqua Line models and is suitable for facilities that require both increased speed capability and increased water height.
