Horse Trot Treadmills: Power Line by Horse Gym

Controlled trot work for professional training routines

The Power Line is the Horse Gym horse trot treadmill range supplied by Equine Health Centre. It is designed for professional equestrian facilities that require controlled trot exercise within structured training and yard management routines.

A horse trot treadmill sits between a walking treadmill and a gallop treadmill. It offers higher speed capability than the Stride Line walking treadmill, while remaining focused on controlled trot work rather than high-speed gallop exercise.

The Power Line range includes two models: P1 Gait and P2 Sport. The right model will depend on the horses using the system, the speed range required, the level of specification needed and the way the treadmill will fit into the daily routine of the yard.

What is a horse trot treadmill?

A horse trot treadmill is an equine treadmill designed for controlled work at trot. It allows the operator to manage speed, duration and incline in a repeatable environment, with the horse working without a rider or tack.

For professional facilities, this can be useful where consistent trot work, careful observation and controlled exercise conditions are important. The Power Line allows facilities to structure trot sessions according to the horse, the intended routine and the operator’s requirements.

Facilities that mainly require walk exercise should compare the Stride Line. Facilities that need controlled gallop work should consider the Race Line.

Power Line models

The Power Line range includes two Horse Gym trot treadmill models.

Both models include two ramps with lifting aids, ramp rails as standard, electric incline adjustment, nine automatic programmes and a second speed controller.

The P2 Sport includes additional features as standard including an observation stand, lubrication monitoring, distance measurement and accurate incline display.

Power Line P1 Gait

The Power Line P1 Gait is designed for controlled trot work with a maximum speed of approximately 18 km/h.

Trot treadmills are suitable for facilities that need a professional horse trot treadmill but do not require the higher speed or additional specification of the P2 Sport.

Power Line P1 Gait treadmill – key features include:

The P1 Gait has an engine power of approximately 9.2 kW, an approximate weight of 1,600 kg and requires a 16A, 400V, 3-phase power supply.

Power Line P2 Sport

The Power Line P2 Sport is the higher-speed model in the Power Line range, with a maximum speed of approximately 25 km/h.

It may be suitable for facilities that need a more highly specified horse trot treadmill for regular professional use, wider horse populations or more demanding training routines.

Power Line P2 Sport key features include:

The P2 Sport has an engine power of approximately 11 kW, an approximate weight of 1,800 kg and requires a 32A, 400V, 3-phase power supply.

Key features of the Power Line trot treadmill range

The Power Line is designed around controlled trot work, safety, observation and practical operation in professional yards.

Key features include:

  • two ramps with lifting aids
  • ramp rails as standard
  • electric incline adjustment up to 10%
  • nine automatic programmes
  • second speed controller
  • automatic safety monitoring system
  • start delay and soft stop
  • breast belt, ties and rear bar
  • fully galvanised construction
  • transparent shatterproof Makrolon side panels for 360 degree gait observation

The automatic safety monitoring system is designed to stop the belt if a horse stumbles. If repeated trips are detected, the belt stops automatically.

P1 Gait or P2 Sport?

The choice between P1 Gait and P2 Sport depends primarily on the speed range, specification level and intended use.

The P1 Gait is appropriate where the facility needs controlled trot work up to approximately 18 km/h and does not require the additional standard features of the P2 Sport.

The P2 Sport is more appropriate where the facility requires, more flexibility in use, a higher maximum speed, additional monitoring features and a more highly specified horse trot treadmill for regular professional use.

Horse type, size and intended routine should also be considered. The P1 Gait is designed for trot work with smaller horses, Icelandics and gaited horses.  The P2 Sport is for all horses, especially, larger or heavier breeds, from leisure horses to high-performance equestrian athletes.

Discuss Power Line suitability with EHC

The most suitable Power Line model will depend on the horses using the treadmill, the required speed range, available space, electrical supply, intended routine and desired specification level.
